Shelby Medina (she/her) is PhD student in Anthropology at UC Berkeley. Her experience and research interests are focused on California archaeology, zooarchaeology, remote sensing and geophysical survey, historical ecology, human-animal ecodynamics, and community-based participatory archaeology. She received her Bachelors in Anthropology at UC Berkeley and her Masters in Anthropology at Cal State L.A. before returning to Cal. Her anticipated dissertation work is focused on satellite-based photogrammetric and geophysical survey of waterways in the Folsom area, attempting to locate and describe riverine fishing weirs and their associated features.

Within the Bear Bones Lab, Shelby is the lead researcher for the Mono Lake Kutzadika'a Petition for Federal Recognition and works on preparation of fish and mammal specimens for academic use.
