Marisol Espino is a recent graduate of Texas State University-San Marcos (M.A.) where she studied the technological transition of Middle to Later Stone Age assemblage from the Northern Cape province of South Africa. Marisol has worked for various departments of transportations where she gained experience with environmental regulations as they pertain to cultural resources and tribal consultation. Prior to working in archaeology, Marisol worked in youth development, conservation education, psychological research, and journalism. This eclectic experience developed her passion for making archaeology accessible to the public, collaborating with descendant communities and using archaeology as a tool for humanities education. She currently manages the Digital Humanities Lab for UC Merced’s Center for the Humanities and provides logistical support for the project “Building Research Partnerships in the San Joaquin Valley: Community-Engaged Research and Graduate Mentorship in the Interdisciplinary Humanities.”
