Mark Johnson, MSW.

I am currently working with Alameda County Public Health Department in Disease Control and Prevention, which is something I never would’ve imagined as a career for myself. But I love it. I received a Masters of Social Welfare from Berkeley in 2020, which I highly suggest as a Graduate degree. The part that I love about my Public Health work is the opportunity create healthcare systems that address Health Equity, which is how race, place, and income are unfortunate determinants of health outcomes. Anthropology helped me learn how to think through challenges with community partners and co-create systems of care that are equitable and effective. I use what I learned from Community Based Participatory Research and Decolonizing Methodologies everyday in my work.
