Name: Issac Lindsay
Project: Wintu Placename Project

Bio: Issac Lindsay is a current graduate student in the Anthropology PhD program, in the archaeology track. As a Nommuq Wintu from Wintun Pom (present-day Shasta & Tehama Counties), his research examines spatial distribution of Wintu placenames to reconstruct pre-settler landscapes and social organization. Issac uses archival and ethnographic sources with GIS and oral histories, basing his work in Wintu epistemology and sovereignty-based methodologies. He is committed to making academic research more readily accessible to his community and to carve a space for other indigenous scholars in academia.
